Man shot walking near Elm, Maple Streets in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, CT -Thursday, December 3, 2020, at approximately 4:12 AM, New Haven Police patrol officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert of gunfire in the area of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard and Elm Street.

Arriving officers were met by a gunshot victim as the man walked from the rear yard of an Elm Street residence. The 21-year-old man had been shot in the abdomen. New Haven Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel arrived on the scene and treated the victim. An ambulance transported the New Haven man to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Prior to the shooting, it is believed the victim was walking on the Boulevard between Elm Street and Maple Street. The victim reported hearing a nearby verbal dispute and then gunfire.
Officers held a crime scene during the early morning hours. The streets have since been reopened.
