Man shoots pit bull after being attacked in Hernando County

HERNANDO CO, FL –  A man was out walking his dog when his dog was attacked by a pit bull. When the pit bull would not let go of his dog the man shot the attacking dog. The pit bull was later euthanized at an emergency clinic. The victim, who is a concealed weapon permit holder, was not injured.  At this point no charges have been filed and an investigation is ongoing.

Also in Hernando County overnight, deputies responded to the area of Jefferson Street in reference to reports of gunshots in the area. No injuries were reported.   

A vehicle owner called to report her truck had been moved during the night and now had side damage. The victim advised her son was a likely suspect. The son admitted to taking and the truck without permission and crashing it into a pole.

Two female students attacked another female student after school in separate incidents. The parent of the student who was attacked signed a waiver of prosecution.
