BOSTON, MA – At about 6:35 PM on Tuesday December 8, 2020 officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested two suspects while recovering a loaded firearm after responding to a call for a person with a gun inside a dark colored SUV in the area of 825 Morton Street in Mattapan. On arrival officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle.

As officers were speaking with the driver, later identified as Jaquori Lyons, 22, of Dorchester, they observed what appeared to be the magazine of a firearm protruding from the jacket pocket of the front seat passenger, later identified as Tymauri Smith, 19, of Dorchester. Officers immediately removed the passenger, placing him under arrest without incident while safely recovering the firearm which was determined to be a 9mm HK VP9 handgun equipped with a laser sight and an extended magazine loaded with twenty-seven rounds of ammunition and an additional round in the chamber. Officers continued their investigation and discovered that the operator did not possess a valid driver’s license at which time he too was placed in custody without incident.

Both suspects will appear in Dorchester District Court for arraignment. Tymauri Smith will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device. Jaquori Lyons will be charged with Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
