Watch: Former New York Giant Shot in Florida Robbery

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Former New York Giant Louis Nix, also known as “Irish Chocolate” was shot during a robbery in Jacksonville, Florida Tuesday night around 9 pm.  Nix was stopped to put air in his tires near Airport Center and Main Street when he was approached by at least two black males and shot, police said.  Nix sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Nix said two men approached him with a flashlight in his eyes and asked him for his money, he refused.  He was shot in the chest by the assailants.

I’m alive everyone,” Nix tweeted while recovering in the hospital. “The bullet that hit me ricocheted off my sternum into my lung. Surgery is the next step so keep praying for me.”

Nix played college football for Notre Dame before being drafted in the third round of the 2014 NFL draft by the Houston Texas.  Nix played for the New York Giants briefly in 2015.  He signed a $2.85 million contract with a $575,000 signing bonus in 2014.
