STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ – A man who was believed to be moving cocaine through Ocean County and the Jersey Shore was arrested in a joint operation between the Stafford Police Department and the Atlantic City Police Department.

On Thursday, December 11, 2020 at approximately 7:00 PM, the Stafford Township Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Unit {DEU} concluded a narcotic investigation when a motor vehicle stop on Elvin J Cruz, 26 year old from Artic Avenue in Atlantic City yielded several ounces of Cocaine.

The DEU with the assistance of the Atlantic City Police Department’s VICE Unit were able to cooperate in an investigation that involved Cruz traveling to Stafford Township distributing quantities of Cocaine.

The DEU was able to secure a court authorized search warrant for Cruz’s vehicle, which was later found to be uninsured, unregistered and possessed fictitious license plates. After the search of Cruz’s vehicle yielded a quantity of Cocaine and money, further investigation led to his residence in Atlantic City where more quantities of Cocaine and money were seized.

The Stafford Township Police Department’s K-9 Unit assisted with the finding of the narcotics on the motor vehicle stop.

Cruz was charged with 2nd Degree Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine, 3rd Degree Possession of CDS Cocaine, and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia.

Cruz was later transported to the Stafford Township Police Department for processing and charges, and released pending a future appearance in the Ocean County Superior Court.

The DEU would like to thank the Atlantic City Police Department’s VICE Unit for their assistance, and commend our department’s K9 Unit and assisting Patrol officers for their efforts in this investigation.

As a reminder, the Stafford Township Police Department does not release arrest photos of defendants, and the public and press are reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. #staffordpolice
