Medical examiner says baby killed in Baltimore died of fentanyl poisoning

BALTIMORE, MD –   On December 14, 2020, Western District patrol officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of N. Mount Street where a baby was found to be unresponsive.  Upon arrival, officers found a 1-year-old baby boy who was not breathing. Officers attempted to render aid and called for medics who transported the child to University Hospital. Once there, doctors pronounced the child deceased.

The child’s remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s office where an autopsy was performed. On December 23, 2020, Medical Examiners doctors ruled that 1-year-old Tyler Burgess’ death was a homicide and that he died from Fentanyl poisoning.
