Thanks to Shore News Network, you won’t be fined $15,000 for violating holiday lockdown rules

Phil Stilton

TOMS RIVER, NJ – This year, we had a scumbag group of politicians here in New Jersey, who happen to actually be Republicans.  Those Republicans wanted to walk lock-step with Governor Phil Murphy’s assault on personal freedom and while the Governor has been urging people to avoid large gatherings, limit their interactions over the holidays and stay close to home, some in Trenton wanted more.

Their plan was a $15,000 fine for violating Phil Murphy’s COVID-19 executive orders.  Having 11 people over for Christmas instead of 10? Yep, $15,000 fine.

Luckily Shore News Network was able to make Greg McGuckin, John Catalano and James Holzapfel back down on their bill.  These three asshats wanted to fine people who were out of work, their businesses being shut down and struggling mentally and financially with huge fines.  Sure, for a man like Greg McGuckin, who is not only an Assemblyman getting a public contract, $15,000 may not be a lot.  McGuckin earns over $4,000,000 on the public dole annually for his heavy-handed political deals he has brokered for himself.

McGuckin didn’t care about the average working stiff when he proposed this law, but we stood up to him and won.  Eventually as the virus outbreak subsided, he looked ridiculous.  McGuckin looked like a fool for wanting to fine many people what amounts to about a third of their annual income.

Now with COVID-19 rebounding, we’re very concerned that Assemblyman McGuckin and his cohorts will resurface this bill if the lockdown returns.

We will remain vigilant against McGuckin’s abuse of power and watch the assembly bills daily to make sure he doesn’t try to sneak this one in again. We stood up to McGuckin and his absurd law and called him out.  On a side note, while he was asking for $15,000 fines, this scumbag politician also took a nearly $200,000 paycheck protection loan for his law firm, taking even more money out of the pockets of Main Street businesses in Ocean County that could have really used it.  During the pandemic, McGuckin’s firm continued to bill all of the dozens of towns and government entities that he had contracts with, but still took the free money from the federal government.

With that, we’d like to say Merry Christmas.  The best gift you can give yourself in Ocean County this year is voting McGuckin out of office in the June 2021 Republican primary…that’s if he’s not caught up in Operation Bid Rig IV that is going on at this time, most likely.
