Kids start winter break hitting severely injuring man with brick during crime spree

WORCESTER, MA – Four kids in Worcester were arrested by police after kicking off winter break by throwing bricks at cars, seriously injuring one man.  The teens, including one girl just 15-years-old threw bricks at about 19 different cars and they are now facing individual charges for each of their crimes.

On December 26th, 2020 at about 3:50 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to Plantation St for a report of an assault with a brick. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the thirty-seven-year-old male victim, who was severely injured when he was driving eastbound on Plantation St. As he passed a red SUV, someone threw a brick at his vehicle. It went through the windshield, struck the victim in the face, and caused very serious , permanent injuries. The victim was transported to the hospital, and officers received information that the suspect vehicle was a stolen red SUV.

As officers gathered information and looked for the SUV, many other calls for service came in reporting inhabitants of a red SUV throwing bricks at passing vehicles. An officer spotted the red SUV near Harrington Way, and began to follow it. The suspect vehicle sped up and the officer pursued the vehicle to the area of Ashwood St, where the vehicle stopped. Two male occupants of the vehicle fled on foot, and two female occupants of the vehicle stayed in the car.


Officers pursued the two males and took them into custody in the area of Houghton St. One of the male suspects is fifteen-years-old and the other is sixteen-years-old. One of the female suspects is fifteen-years-old and the other is sixteen-years-old. A total of nineteen vehicles were struck by bricks and damaged. All four juveniles are charged with Aggravated Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Brick), Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Brick) x 5, Mayhem, Conspiracy, Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle x 19, Throwing Missiles at a Train or Bus, and Resisting Arrest. In addition, the sixteen-year-old male is charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Dangerous Weapon (Brass Knuckles) and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon When Arrested. They will be arraigned in court.
