Man who murdered, dismembered wife dead in New York jail

BUFFALO, NY – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that the man accused of killing his wife inside their Broadway home and burying her dismembered body in the backyard has died. The defendant, 54-year-old Mohammed Mused of Buffalo, passed away at ECMC on Thursday, December 24, 2020.

The case against Mused was pending before Erie County Court Judge Susan Eagan. The defendant was indicted on one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “A-I” felony, for allegedly killing his wife, 42-year-old Muna Abdulrahman, on March 18, 2020. Mused was scheduled to return to court on January 27, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. for a virtual motion argument.

Due to HIPAA, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office cannot comment on the defendant’s cause of death. DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department Homicide Squad for their work on this case.


The case was being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christine Garvey of the DA’s Homicide Bureau.

To date, there have been a total of three domestic violence-related homicides in Erie County this year.
