Linden man charged for New Year’s Eve Choking Death of 62-year-old Woman

LINDEN, NJ – 62-year-old Edward Sokowski has been charged for the strangulation death of Kim Lewandowski, both of Linden.  Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo and Linden Police Chief David Hart said that police responded to Sokowski’s apartment on South Wood Avenue and found Lewandowski at 8:10 pm on New Year’s Eve.   She was pronounced dead at 8:30.  The Union County Medical Examiner has ruled Lewandowski’s death a homicide, caused by manual strangulation.   Sokowski was arrested and placed in the Union County Jail.
