Centennial karate instructor accused of sexually assaulting one of his child students

CENTENNIAL, CO – The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office has notified the public today that a local martial arts instructor has been arrested for the sexual assault of a child, one of his students.  Charles Niemi was arrested last week on suspicion of sex assault on a child, police alledge.  Neimi is a martial arts instructor at Spirit Warrior Martial Arts in Centennial. He was arrested by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, however, it’s possible there are more victims in Arapahoe County.

On December 31, 2020, at approximately 1:45 p.m., deputies arrested 65-year-old Niemi, of Centennial, for sexual assault on a child pattern of abuse, two (2) counts. An arrest warrant was issued for NIEMI on December 31, 2020, and detectives took him into custody immediately following, without incident.  He was transported to and is being held at the Douglas County Detention Facility on a no-bond hold.

Niemi was the victim child’s martial arts instructor at the time of the assault and is still currently an instructor at Spirit Warrior Martial Arts in Centennial Colorado, located at 4151 E. County Line Rd. in Arapahoe County.


It is believed that Niemi, who was 64 at the time of the assault, may have additional victims. At this time, detectives are asking for anyone who might have information regarding this case, or who believe they or someone they know might also be a victim of NIEMI, contact Detective Ducat at 303-814-7179.  This is still an active an ongoing investigation. No further information will be released at this time.
