HOWARD COUNTY, MD – Howard County police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision Monday morning in Ellicott City. At approximately 5:19 a.m., a 2015 Infiniti Q50 was traveling east on Baltimore National Pike (Route 40) approaching the ramp for Route 29 when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a guardrail. The driver and sole occupant, 24-year-old Cameron Collins of Sykesville, was transported to Howard County General Hospital where he later died of his injuries. Preliminarily, police believe icy road conditions may have contributed to the collision. The investigation is ongoing. Route 40 east was closed for approximately three hours.
