Shot fired in Toms River Near High School East Sunday Night

TOMS RIVER, NJ –  Police in Toms River reported a man they described as “emotionally disturbed fired his gun into the air in a neighborhood just south of Toms River High School East. Toms River Police reported that on the evening of January 3rd, officers were dispatched to Red Cedar Street in Toms River for reports of gunfire.
“A preliminary investigation revealed an emotionally disturbed resident fired one shot into the air and fled the scene. He was subsequently located in taken to Community Medical Center for further evaluation,” said Toms River Police Department Spokeswoman Jullian Messina.
There were no injuries. There is nothing further at this time.  The department did not report the name of the suspect.
