Two arrested after high speed New Year’s Eve boat chase in hijacked boat

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FL – The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of two men for hijacking a boat, eluding police, and assaulting a law enforcement officer.  According to the ICSO, an intercoastal boat chase resulted in two arrests on New Year’s Eve Dec. 31, 2020, around 3:45 p.m.   Bobby Moneyhan and Hunter Crawford were both arrested and face charges of grand theft. Moneyhan picked up an extra charge of battery on a law enforcement officer for kicking the arresting deputy. His boat was seized.

The victim told authorities he anchored his boat in the intercoastal and went on his friend’s boat. While it was anchored, Moneyhan’s boat approached the victim’s boat. Crawford then unanchored it, and navigated it southbound. The victim, using his friend’s boat pursued it until Crawford came to a stop. The victim took back possession of his boat and drove it and Crawford back to the boat ramp with Moneyhan as well.
