LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – The first week of 2021 has been relatively peaceful in the shore community of Lacey Township.  Here is a list of incident police in Lacey responded to during the first week of the new year.

Arrest– On Thursday, December 31, 2020, at 5:27 p.m., Officers Jason Lee and Jeff Slota arrested Kyle Conroy for outstanding warrants.  Three jurisdictions, Ocean County Sheriff, Oceanport, and Lacey issued the warrants for failure to appear and failing to make payments.  Conroy was released after satisfying each of the three bails totaling $3,541.

Fire – On Friday, January 1, 2021, at 12:40 a.m., Officer Martin Julian was dispatched to Deerhead Lake Beach in reference to a fire.  Officer Julian confirmed a small fire that originated and was contained to a garbage can.  The fire was extinguished by the Forked River Fire Department.


DWI– On Friday, January 1, 2021, at 3:19 a.m., Officer Scott Keefe observed a vehicle stopped on the roadway near the entrance to Home Depot.  After stopping to interact with the driver, Officer Keefe determined that the driver was under the influence.  Mark Slater, 55, of Beachwood, was arrested and charged with DWI, Reckless Driving, and Open Container Inside a Motor Vehicle.  He was released pending a Court appearance.

Arrest- On Monday, January 4, 2021, at 10:35 p.m., officers responded to Wawa, 444 Route 9, in reference to an adult male harassing customers.  Upon arrival, officers met with Roger Hanson, 35, of Manahawkin.  Officers discovered that Hanson was wanted by the Cape May County Superior Court for violations of unlawful possession of a weapon and failure to appear.  During his arrest, officers discovered an amount of marijuana.  Hanson was lodged in the Ocean County Correctional Facility and is awaiting transport to Cape May County.

Theft– On Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at 8:05 p.m., Officer Keith Pearce met with a Lacey resident in reference to a theft.  The victim stated that he parked his truck off the roadway on west Lacey Road while he walked in the adjacent wooded area.  Upon returning to his vehicle, the victim realized that an unknown suspect(s) stole personal belongings from the bed of his truck.  The belongings included hockey equipment valued at $1,120
