Maryland man wanted for murdering girlfriend, police seek public’s assistance locating him

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – A Montgomery murderer is the lose today and police are searching for him after learning he killed his girlfriend.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division have obtained a warrant for the arrest of Juan Emilio Guzman-Contreras, age 29, of the 3800 block of Bel Pre Road, for the first-degree murder of his girlfriend, Claudia Areli Gonzalez, age 28, of the same address. Today, investigators are asking for the public’s help in locating Guzman-Contreras.
On Sunday, January 10, at approximately 5:58 p.m., 4th District officers responded to a home in the 3800 block of Bel Pre Road for the report of a deceased person. Responding officers observed trauma to Gonzalez’s upper body.

Gonzalez’s remains were transported to The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in Baltimore where an autopsy was conducted. The OCME ruled Gonzalez’s death a homicide.
Through investigation, detectives identified Guzman-Contreras as the suspect in Gonzalez’s murder. Guzman-Contreras could not be located and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Investigators are seeking information from the public regarding the whereabouts of Juan Emilio Guzman-Contreras.
