TOMS RIVER, NJ – Toms River Councilman Kevin Geoghegan said Toms River Residents deserve the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth and the town is going to spend $60,000 with a politically connected public relations firm to make sure residents hear it from the government first.
“Tonight this council approved hiring a PR firm, although we’ve been under some scrutiny, why we’re doing it and whatnot, it’s something that this mayor and council, majority of this council wanted and needed and we feel the taxpayers also deserve it,” Geohegan told the public Tuesday night.
It’s true, Mayor Mo Hill needs all the help he can get as his administration has been one political sh-tshow after another. Now, New Jersey State Senator, Vin Gopal and his company Direct Development will be on call to clean up Hill’s messes going forward and setting the public straight on those pesky social media internet rumors.
The first mess is the catch-22 Hill finds himself in with regards to his proposed two-acre house of worship zoning. Gopal is a smooth talker, it’s what got him elected to the New Jersey Senate at a young age. If anyone can soften the blow for Hill on that one it’s Gopal.
The other mess was a botched land deal where Hill and the council tried to sell the last parcel of untouched land on the Hooper Avenue corridor in Silverton in a fire sale auction that went bust after some pretty sketchy things went down, including the lowest bid being the lowest bidder and not being the lowest bidder with multiple bidders, but just one bidder and the buyer was coincidently a friend of Hill’s from the Lakewood Township Planning Board making a bid for a straw buyer…well, you get the point. We may never know the truth on that failed land deal, but with Gopal at the helm, we’ll at least be told a very well put together version of future botched Mill Hill transactions.
Such as Hill building a city in downtown Toms River. Hill says he’s not building a city, but even the developer Capodaglia published on their own website, Toms River will be a city to rival that of Lakewood.
Hill says Shore News Network’s reporting on that matter is fake news, but the developer has actually promoted our story, because well, it’s real news. We’ll soon be told in a slick $60,000 sort of way why 7 story apartment buildings in Downtown Toms River are good for the people of the town going forward and with Gopal’s expertise, we’ll all probably start believing Mo Hill a little more…because that’s what a good PR firm does. They essentially polish manure into nice shiny servings of goodness.

“You deserve to know all the facts, the truthful facts, and nothing but the facts that are out there,” Geoghegan said. “Some are perhaps afraid of the facts and the truth so they can use it for their own twisted agenda, putting out rumors on social media and whatnot, although we did have an employee that was handling the PR type matters, but she’s on maternity leave. This firm is going to do fantastic, they’ve done work for several other towns and corporations.”
There was once this rumor about this cop from Silverton who lost his ward election because everyone who lived in the community remembered how much of a dick he was as a community police officer and didn’t vote for him…but again, that’s just a rumor.
Gopal’s firm also sells political campaign lawn signs, like the ones Terrance Turnbach and Laurie Huryk used in 2017 that said “Stop the Building” in their anti-Lakewood development campaign in town. That campaign was featured in a recent township criminal complaint where Turnbach, a lawyer who represents pedophiles, rapists, and murderers said anyone who uses “Stop Lakewood Development” is anti-Semitic. Maybe Gopal can help Turnbach spin his foot out of his mouth.
But let’s face it, the real reason Gopal is in Toms River is that 2021 is going to be a contentious election year, and Democrats Laurie Huryk, Terrance Turnbach, and (who knows which side she’s on these days) Maria Maruca need all the help they can get. The hiring of a PR firm just one month ahead of a political campaign season kick-off is about as sketchy as the woman who stood there and let her friend die and drown in a swimming pool, which was represented in court by…well, that’s a story for another day.
It will be interesting to see Gopal spin the local EMT squad’s sweet arrangement with the town or how Mo Hill gives jobs to his friends and political donors, but as we said, if there’s one guy who can put some cologne on a pile of turd and present it to the public as truth, Gopal is your guy. He’s a nice guy. He’s a good guy, but we’re not sure if he’s even aware of the pile of dog sh-t he just stepped in with Hill and his politically and morally corrupt band of yes men…and women.
One thing is for sure if anyone in Toms River thinks this hire was for the “good of the public”, Mo Hill has a bridge to sell in Toms River to the highest bidder.
