Man shot in head in New Haven Thursday Night

NEW HAVEN, CT -A man is recovering from a gunshot wound to his head in New Haven after being shot last night on Winthrop Avenue.

On Thursday, January 14, at approximately 8:23 PM, a New Haven man was shot in the head and drove himself to the hospital. The incident happened on Winthrop Avenue between Parmelee Avenue and Judson Avenue.

New Haven patrol officers responded to 911 callers reporting gunfire on Winthrop Avenue. Officers found evidence of gunfire in the roadway. A short time later, the gunshot victim arrived by private vehicle at Yale New Haven Hospital Saint Raphael Campus at 1450 Chapel Street. The 27-year-old man sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the side of his head.

Prior to the shooting, the victim was sitting in his parked car on Winthrop Avenue. Investigators believe a gunman in a passing vehicle fired multiple times at the victim. The victim’s vehicle was also struck by gunfire. The injured motorist then drove several blocks to the hospital
