Police clear iPark 84, former IBM complex of suspected bomb threat, suspect arrested

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, NY – Police from multiple agencies responded to a bomb threat at the iPark 84 complex here last week.  The complex is a former IBM facility. Today, police announced the have arrested a suspect in that bomb threat.

On January 8, 2021, the City of Beacon Police Department received a report of a bomb threat to the iPark 84 complex located at 2070 Route 52 in Hopewell Jct. The East Fishkill Police Department was notified and a quick multi-agency response was coordinated to sweep and clear the facility of any threat. Canine Units and officers from Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police, City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, and Department of Environmental Protection Police assisted in clearing the facility and no explosive devices were found. A canine surgeon from Hudson Highlands Veterinary Medical Group was also on scene to assist.

“As a result of an investigation by the East Fishkill Police Department, with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a suspect was quickly developed,” the East Fishkill Police Department said. “On January 14, 2021, a 53-year-old Town of Wappinger man was arrested for the incident and charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident in the second degree, a felony. He was arraigned in the East Fishkill Justice Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail with bail. He was scheduled for a future appearance in the Town of East Fishkill Justice Court.”


The East Fishkill Police Department wishes to thank all agencies involved in the initial response and investigation. The interagency cooperation of law enforcement in our area helps to protect our citizens and brought this case to a safe and swift conclusion. Police did not release the name of the suspect.
