Road Rage in Ulster: Man tried to run woman, 17-month child off the road

ULSTER PARK, NY – Authorities in Ulster Park say a woman and her child escaped injury after a drunk driver intentionally tried to run the off the roadway.

Members of the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office report the arrest of a 26-year-old Ulster Park man for the misdemeanors of Driving While Intoxicated, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree, Reckless Driving and a traffic infraction.  The name of the  man was not released.

On January 13, 2021, at about 8:30 PM deputies responded to a 911 call for a domestic dispute in Port Ewen. The resulting investigation alleges during the incident, the man attempted to run the victim’s vehicle off the roadway while intoxicated while the victim’s 17 month old child was in the back seat. No one was injured during the incident.  The man was arraigned in the Town of Esopus Court and released on his own recognizance.  Deputies were assisted on scene by the New York State Police and Port Ewen Fire Department.
