66-Year-Old Struck and killed by hit and run in Hillandale

HILLANDALE, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian that occurred yesterday evening in Hillandale.

Yesterday evening, (Friday, January 15) at approximately 8:22 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel responded to New Hampshire Avenue at Elton Road for the report of a serious collision involving a pedestrian. Preliminary investigation has determined that the 66-year-old male pedestrian was crossing New Hampshire Avenue near Elton Road. A vehicle, believed to be a Nissan, was traveling south on New Hampshire Avenue approaching Elton Road. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle struck the pedestrian on New Hampshire Avenue. After striking the pedestrian, the vehicle fled the area. The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The striking vehicle is believed to be a 2007 or 2008 silver Nissan Altima or Sentra. The vehicle will have damage to the left front bumper and fender area. The identity of the pedestrian will be released once family notifications have been made. This collision investigation is ongoing.
