NEW YORK, NY – The New York Mets hired General Manager Jared Porter in December.  Today, Mets owner Steven Cohen said Porter was fired over an exchange he had with a female reporter five years earlier.

ESPN reported that in 2016, Porter engaged in a one-way text affair with a female reporter when he was the director of professional scouting for the Chicago Cubs.

“We have terminated Jared Porter this morning. In my initial press conference, I spoke about the importance of integrity and I meant it. There should be zero tolerance for this type of behavior,” Cohen said.

According to ESPN, Porter sent the woman over 60 texts, including one that included a photo allegedly “featuring a bulge in the groin area” and “a bare penis”.  ESPN reported that Porter continued texting the woman despite her lack of response he continued.  On August 11, 2016, Porter sent the reporter 17 photos while he was on the road in Los Angeles in a hotel.  He had asked the reporter to meet him at the hotel.    15 of the 17 photos were pictures of the hotel and hotel restaurants, but then things started to get a little strange.

The 16th photo was a picture of Porter’s groin area, covered by his pants.  The next one was his bare naked penis blowing in the wind for the world to see.  Porter said the dick pic was not his, but a stock photo, “kinda like joke stock images,” he said.
