INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FL – A Sebastian woman has been arrested, charged in connection to a Gifford man’s death. The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrested Andrea Sanchez, 37, on Jan. 19, 2021, eight days after the victim was reported missing out of Gifford. Acting on a tip regarding a silver BMW tied to the missing person’s case, investigators responded to a home in Sebastian, where they encountered Sanchez. She asked the investigators if they were there about the “missing guy.”

Investigators noticed flies around the trunk of the vehicle and, upon walking near the car, immediately smelled a strong pungent odor.

They asked Sanchez if they could look inside and she consented.

Upon opening the trunk, they discovered what appeared to be a human body covered with a dark colored blanket.

Detectives secured the trunk and took Sanchez into custody. During an interview with investigators, Sanchez acknowledged driving her BMW for approximately 10 days with the body in the trunk. Sanchez denied being involved in the man’s death.

She is currently being held at the Indian River County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail on a charge of abuse of a dead human body.
