ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – You know things are bad in your town when the city has to employ the use of ShotSpotter, a system that allows police to triangulate random gunshots, but it’s reassuring to know that as crime increases in Atlantic City, officers have that technology at their disposal.

On January 18, 2021, two teenagers were arrested and a handgun recovered after a ShotSpotter alert.
At 3:04 pm, patrol officers responded to the 700 block of Maryland Avenue in reference to a ShotSpotter alert. Information was obtained that two potential suspects were seen running into a residence in the 800 block of Maryland Avenue. Officers surrounded the location and attempted to call the occupants out.
After a short period of time Saalih Davis came out the back door. As officers were taking him into custody a 15-year-old female ran out of the door. Officers began to chase her and she attempted to hide in a trash dumpster. She was taken into custody and a loaded handgun was located inside the dumpster. Davis was taken into custody and found to be in possession of handgun ammunition.
There were no injuries reported from the shots fired.
