Two arrested after Jackson Township Police Told by Residents About Drug Activity

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, detectives from the department’s Special Enforcement Unit were investigating information received regarding narcotics activity in the area of Maria Street. During the investigation, surveillance of persons suspected in the activity was conducted which then resulted in a motor vehicle stop and arrest of two suspects.
During the investigation, detectives recovered approximately 5 bricks of heroin, 5 grams of crystal methamphetamine along with a quantity of methadone and drug paraphernalia and also seized the vehicle that the suspects had been using. That vehicle is now being held pending forfeiture proceedings.
Arrested:
Jeffrey Ackerman, age 28 of Toms River, NJ. He was charged with: possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic syringe and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Robert Mclean, age 26 of Jackson, NJ. He was charged with: possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of a hypodermic syringe, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance while operating a motor vehicle and driving while suspended.
Both were processed and later lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
Patrol officers from the Uniformed Services Division and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit assisted with the investigation.

Any persons arrested or charged with any offenses or crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.  Neither of the charged individuals showed up on Thursday in an Ocean County Jail Records Search.
