Illegal Speakeasy Raided in Massachusetts

LAWRENCE, MA – Lawrence Police responded to the Springfield and Foster Street area for a report of loud music. After searching the area for the original call, the responding Officers observed a large amount of foot traffic heading in the direction of a Springfield Street address. Upon further investigation, the Officers observed an “illegal night club,” complete with a waitress and full bar.
An estimated 100 people were present at that location. In addition to the City Ordinance Violation, the Lawrence Fire Department was asked to respond to the scene as there were charcoal
Hookahs and external propane heaters being used inside the residence.
The matter remains under investigation by the Lawrence Police Department, Lawrence Fire Department and Lawrence Inspection Services Department. Additionally, the Lawrence Board of Health is investigating the Covid-19 violations.
