Man arrested for biting, fighting with police officers in Portland after breaking car windows

PORTLAND, OR – On January 23, 2021, at 12:28, officers from the Central Precinct responded to the area of West Burnside and Southwest 16th Avenue on a call of an adult male smashing out vehicle windows. Upon their arrival, two officers attempted to contact the suspect who began walking away. The officers attempted to take the suspect into custody and he began to throw punches at the officers. Additional officers responded to assist in taking the suspect into custody.

Officers received minor injuries during the custody and one officer was bit on the forearm by the suspect. The suspect was seen by medical professionals and was cleared to be transported to jail.

The suspect, 29-year-old Jacey Hoppert, was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center for the crimes of Assaulting a Public Safety officer (2x), Resist Arrest, Interfering with a Police Officer, Menacing, and Disorderly Conduct II.
