COLUMBUS, OH – Ohio House Republicans Jon Cross and Reggie Stoltzfus are hoping to make June 14th “President Donald J. Trump Day”. June 14th represents the former president’s birthday.
Cross and Stoltzfus figure if George Washington and Abraham Lincoln can have days, why not Trump? It would not be the first time a day was given to a recent president. In Illinois, August 4th is Barack Obama Day.
The memorandum issued to the Ohio house said the pair was looking for co-sponsors for their bill that acknowledged America’s 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump.
“Let’s show the 3,154,834 Ohio voters, a record and historic number of votes received for a president in Ohio, who cast their ballot to re-elect Donald J. Trump that we as a legislature recognize the accomplishments of his administration,” Cross said. “And that the Ohio House believes it is imperative that we set aside a day to celebrate one of the greatest presidents in American history.”
Stoltzfus said, “Trump personified the emotions of millions of Ohioans who for too long have felt marginalized by our government and the American political system. While the media tarnishes his achievements and his legacy, this legislation will help ensure that for one day each year the voices of millions of people from all corners of our state will be commemorated.”
