Mr. Biden, Tear Down This Wall

Phil Stilton

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Mr. Biden, tear down this wall.   For years, you have told America that walls do not work. Not walls on our borders.  Not walls of military defense and definitely not a wall in our nation’s capital.

On January 22nd, to protect the inauguration from a perceived attack that never came, Washington, D.C. was turned into a military compound, complete with 20,000 armed troops, barbed wire, and military vehicles, to defend America, against itself.  Never has such a barrier been erected in the nation’s capital.  Throughout the nearly twenty-year War on Terror, such a barrier had not been erected as the threat of attack was real on a daily basis.

Let history be your guiding light in two of the most defining speeches ever given by world leaders regarding the future of freedom and liberty.

The United States stands at this time at the pinnacle of world power. It is a solemn moment for the American democracy. With primacy in power is also joined an awe-inspiring accountability to the future. As you look around you, you must feel not only the sense of duty done but also feel anxiety lest you fall below the level of achievement. Opportunity is here now, clear and shining, for both of our nation’s political parties.

To reject it or ignore it or fritter it away will bring upon us all the long reproaches of the after-time. It is necessary that constancy of mind, persistency of purpose and the grand simplicity of decision shall guide and rule the conduct of Americans in peace as they did during political strife. We must and I believe we shall prove ourselves equal to this severe requirement.

A shadow has fallen upon the scenes so lately lighted by the Democrat victory in Washington. Nobody knows what the administration of Joe Biden and the Democrat Party intends to do in the immediate future or what are the limits if any to their expansive and proselytizing tendencies.

I have a strong admiration and regards for the recent victories by the Democrat Party and for our new President, Joe Biden.

But, from Portland in the west to New York in the east, an iron curtain has descended across the nation.  The imagery of this prolonged military occupation of our nation’s capital of the leader of the free world is frightening and humiliating.  To the outside world, America has been the beacon of freedom and hope.  Now, images of U.S. troops armed and ready to kill our fellow Americans in our nation’s capital is how we are being viewed in the lens of history for all to see for generations.

This is happening on our watch.  Walls don’t work. You said it yourself.   Restore American sanctity immediately.  Don’t let this militarization of America be your forever legacy. Mr. Biden, tear down this wall.
