Two struck by car, one dead in Rancho Cordova, police investigating as homicide

SACRAMENTO, CA – At approximately 9:05 p.m. on January 29, 2021, the Sacramento Sheriff’s Communication Center received a call regarding an unconscious male lying in the parking lot of a business in the 10000 block of Folsom Boulevard in Rancho Cordova. The caller advised that the subject had been struck by a vehicle and the vehicle was no longer at the scene.

Deputies responded and located an unresponsive, adult male with significant trauma to his body. Moments later, fire personnel arrived and pronounced the subject deceased at the scene. Deputies located an additional adult, male subject, who had also been struck by the vehicle, but sustained minor injuries. He was later transported to a local area hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the scene, interviewed witnesses and gathered evidence. No further information or suspect information is available at this time.


The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after identification and notification of next of kin.
