Catalytic Converter Thefts on the Rise in Concord, Toyota Prius are Prime Targets

Ryan Dickinson

CONCORD, CA – Theft of catalytic converters is on the rise in Concord, police said today, adding thieves are targeting Toyota Priuses.

“Catalytic converter thefts are on the rise and not just in Concord. This Prius owner was fortunate, as these two suspects were scared away by something. Most of the thefts are from Toyota Prius’, although there has been other cases in which they were stolen from other models,” the department said. “It doesn’t take long for people involved in these crimes to jack up a car and steal the catalytic converter. It can happen in a matter of seconds. You can see in the trunk of the suspects’ car that they already had a payday with other catalytic converters.”

If you have any information on the potential suspects in this case, please contact the CPD Financial Crimes Unit 925-671-5085
