WILMINGTON MANOR, DE – Hours before kick-off on Super Bowl Sunday, members of the Wilmington Manor Fire Company and New Castle County Paramedics were dispatched to an unfortunate home fire on Gadwall Court.

Wilmington Manor Fire Company reported that just before 12:30 pm on Super Bowl Sunday, they and mutual aid companies were dispatched to the 1400 block of Gadwall Ct. for the report of a garage on fire.

“Engine and Ladder 28 arrived to find a large volume of fire emanating from the garage as well as the first and second floors of the home,” the department said. “Crews from Engine 28, Engine 12 and Engine 18 made an interior attack on the fire to extinguish it. Ladder 28, Ladder 12 and Ladder 18 performed primary searches of the home that proved negative”

With multiple fire companies from the area working together in frigid temperatures to control the blaze, the New Castle County Parademics provided medical support for the firefighters.

“Paramedics worked through the snow and sleet to provide medical support throughout the incident,” the department said. “One firefighter suffered a minor injury. Due to the weather conditions, New Castle County Paramedic’s Mobile Medical Aide Unit (MEDCOM) responded to the incident to assist with the medical operation.”
