Man finds out his 14-year-old online date was an undercover cop

Bound Brook, N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Bound Brook Borough Chief of Police Vito Bet announced the arrest of Dave J. Adamovic, age 48, of 1st Avenue, North Bergen, New Jersey.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that beginning in October of 2020, as part of a joint initiative conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit, Dave J. Adamovic began chatting on various application platforms with an undercover detective whom he believed to be 14 years of age. Adamovic’s chats became sexual in nature and throughout the course of the investigation made arrangements to travel to meet the undercover detective to engage in sexual intercourse.

As a result of this investigation, on February 5, 2021, Adamovic travelled to Bound Brook, N.J. to meet with the person whom he believed to be 14 years of age to engage in sexual acts. Upon arriving in the Bound Brook area, Adamovic was taken into custody without incident by authorities assigned to the investigation.

Defendant Adamovic was charged with 2nd degree Attempted Luring, 2nd degree Attempted Sexual Assault, 2nd degree Attempted Manufacturing Child Pornography, 3rd degree Attempted Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and 3rd degree Promotion of Obscene Material to a Person under 18 years of age. Defendant Adamovic was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a bail detention hearing.
