PORT ST. LUCIE, FL – Back in October, a 75-year-old Port St. Lucie resident leaving a shopping center found a flyer on their car advertising home remodeling services. Looking to have a home bathroom renovated, they contacted the company listed on the flyer and inquired about services.
45-year-old Hugh Gregory Isaac (2/6/1976) of Ocala, responded to the inquiry representing US Property Management and Remodeling, LLC. and presented the resident with a quote for $2,500 to complete the job. Gregory required a $1,250 deposit, which the resident paid.
After not showing up on the agreed-upon start date, the resident began calling Isaac who never again spoke to them by phone and never showed up to complete the work.
Having first been told the matter was civil in nature and nothing could be done, the resident did not give up in wanting to make sure Hugh Isaac could not victimize anyone else. The resident contacted the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office in December and detectives immediately began investigating criminal wrongdoing. US Property Management and Remodeling, LLC was dissolved in September 2020 as a Florida corporation.
Hugh Gregory was arrested on February 11, 2021, and charged with failure of a contractor to perform work. He was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
If anyone else has been victimized by Hugh Isaac or the US Property Management and Remodeling, LLC, please contact detectives at (772) 462-3230.
“Our senior residents have worked their whole lives to get to a place where they can enjoy retirement,” said Sheriff Ken J. Mascara.
“I will not allow them to be taken advantage of and then brushed aside. I’m thankful this resident was persistent in telling their story so the scammer could be held accountable and other residents saved from abuse.”
