VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Virginia Beach Police Chief Paul Neudigate held an early morning press conference hours after gunfire echoed throughout the city killing two and wounding eight.

“Approximately 11:00 or shortly after 11 p.m. this night, we had an original crime scene at 20th and Atlantic, at which numerous shots were fired. We had approximately eight victims, give or take, from this location,” Chief Neudigate said

While officers were actively working that crime scene, there were additional shots that were fired in the area of 20th and Pacific resulting in an individual being confronted by a Virginia Beach Police officer. That individual was shot and killed by police officers.

“We have a very chaotic incident, a very chaotic night in the Beach, many different crime scenes,” the chief said.

Neudigate said one police officer was struck by a car and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
