Police chase ends with arrest after burglary in Houston

HOUSTON- Westside Patrol Division officers received information about a burglary of a business at the 8300 block of Wilcrest Drive. Officers located the suspects’ vehicle, a red Nissan sedan, going southbound on the West Sam Houston Pkwy and officers waited for a backup unit before initiating a traffic stop.

Once the backup unit arrived, the officers turned on their emergency lights and attempted to stop the suspect at the 10500 block of W. Sam Houston Parkway, south of Bissonnet Street. The suspects refused to stop and turned south on the Southwest Freeway and entered the main lanes.


They then exited Highway 90 and made a U-turn. The suspect ran multiple stop lights and drove at a high rate of speed in his attempt to evade. He turned south onto Murphy Road and pulled into a parking lot at 12900 Murphy Road, which was the parking lot of a motel, and struck a steel pole before coming to a stop. One suspect exited the right passenger door and ran towards an officer.

When he saw the officer, he doubled back towards the vehicle, but the officer was able to detain the suspect and place him into custody without further incident.

Two suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot towards a red Dodge Charger that seemed to be waiting for them. Officers set up a perimeter and one suspect complied, and the other suspect initially complied with officers’ commands, but then fled on foot.

Officers pursued the suspect as he ran through the hall of the motel until he tripped and fell to the ground. Officers placed him into custody without further incident. The driver was charged with burglary of a building and felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle. He has a lengthy criminal history with convictions for evading arrest and forgery. The other two suspects were charged with evading arrest on foot. One suspect was out on bond for 3 misdemeanors and the other suspect has a lengthy criminal history including convictions for burglary of a habitation, burglary of a motor vehicle, credit card abuse, and theft.
