Woman found dead on the beach at the Jersey Shore

SURF CITY, NJ – Police on Long Beach Island in the small town of Surf City were alerted to a missing woman who went for a walk on the beach and never returned Saturday night. The woman was reported missing by her family and police began their search.

At around 9 p.m., during the search, Surf City Police Officer Sean Raimondi discovered footprints in the sand heading east toward the ocean. Her family had suspected the woman went to the oceanfront.

Officer Raimondi followed the footsteps in the sand as local rescue squads assisted. The woman was found deceased in the area of North 14th Street in the surf. No cause of death was reported. Police suspect the woman had entered the water which was a cold 45 degrees.
