Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash on Route 72

STAFFORD TOWNSHIP – On Saturday, April 10th, 2021 at 6:48 PM, a motor vehicle collision occurred on Route 72 eastbound near the Route 9 ramp involving a solo motorcycle.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle operated by Robert Perotti, 53 years old of Tuckerton, N.J. was accessing Route 72 eastbound from Route 9 northbound. The motorcycle struck the curbing at the merge of the ramp resulting in Perotti being ejected from the motorcycle and sustaining serious injury.

Perotti was immediately assisted by a retired combat medic who was traveling on Route 72 at the time the incident occurred and rendered life-saving measures until paramedics and police arrived on the scene. Perotti was flown to Robert Wood Johnson hospital in New Brunswick for his injuries and is in an unknown condition at this time.


He was not wearing an approved helmet at the time of the collision. Any witnesses who may have additional information are asked to contact the Stafford Township Police Department.
