Tontitown police officers rescue woman from crashed, burning stolen vehicle

TONTITOWN, AK – On Saturday, at about 10:30 pm, Tontitown Officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle with reported armed occupants, in the area of Liberty and Brush Creek Road.

The vehicle failed to stop and fled from Officers on Brush Creek Road. The pursuit continued until the 1800 block of Brush Creek when the suspect vehicle failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree head-on and caught fire. Officers attempted to order the driver out of the vehicle but did not receive any response.

Officers began to hear screaming from inside the vehicle and attempted to make entry inside the vehicle.


Officers found a female driver, who was pinned inside the vehicle. With the fire spreading into the cab of the vehicle. A Tontitown Officer climbed through the passenger window, inside the vehicle and attempted to free the female driver. The Officer was able to move the driver’s seat enough to free the driver and pull her to safety from the driver’s window while the other Officer extinguished flames on the female suspect.

The female suspect was transported to a local hospital before she was flown to a level 1 trauma hospital. The female suspect sustained significant burns among other serious injuries.
