Fact Check – This week, CNN reported that U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz was snubbed by former President Donald J. Trump. The network cited their “sources”, most likely the same ones they have relied on for misinformation over the past five years of Trump-related coverage that have historically been wrong, inaccurate, and intentionally misleading to create negative headlines.
At this point, you have to wonder if CNN actually has any sources or if “anonymous sources” are just a code word for “We made this entire story up in our situation room”.
Today Trump said the entire story was false. It never happened.
“Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who’s facing a federal investigation into sex trafficking allegations, was recently denied a meeting with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago estate, sources tell CNN,” CNN reported.
“Fake News CNN, relying on all anonymous sources, meaning they probably made the whole thing up, wrote a very dishonest story claiming Congressman Matt Gaetz asked for a meeting with me at Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Florida, and was denied,” Trump said. “This is completely false.”
CNN was convincing in their false story that hundreds of news outlets around the world carried the story and parroted the words of CNN as fact.
Trump asked why the network would focus on a fake news story about a fake meeting with Gaetz instead of covering real stories, such as the the one involving Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell who had an affair with a Chinese spy while he sat on the House Intelligence Commiteee.

“Why doesn’t CNN investigate and write about lightweight Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell, who had a torrid and physical relationship with the Chinese spy Fang-Fang, but is somehow on the once-prestigious House Intelligence Committee,” Trump questioned. “Swalwell, who ran for President and dropped out with a record-setting 0% in the polls, has been compromised and is a national security threat to the United States—he should be removed from the Committee immediately.”

Trump has also in the past questioned why CNN and MSNBC have failed to report properly on U.S. President Joe Biden’s son Hunter’s business dealings and scandals the way the network would have if the course of unfortunate events happened to one of Trump’s sons.
