Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan grilled Dr. Anthony Fauci and asked America’s top doc on COVID-19 asking repeatedly “When do Americans get their freedom back?”
Fauci sidestepped giving Jordan a definitive baseline measurement
“When we get the level of infection in this country low enough that it is not a really high…” Fauci said.
“What is low enough? Give me a number,” Jordan interrupted. “We had 15 days to slow the spread turn into one year of lost liberty, what metrics…what measures…what has to happen before Americans get their freedoms back?”
Fauci replied that his goal is to get as many Americans vaccinated as quickly as possible to get the level of infection low enough where it is no longer a threat.
“That is when,” Fauci said.
“What determines when?” Jordan asked again. “What measurement? Are we going to just continue this forever? When do we get to the point before Americans get their liberties and freedoms back?”
“You’re indicating liberty and freedom, I look at it as a public health measure to prevent people from dying and going to the hospital,” Fauci replied. “I don’t look at this as a liberty thing. I look at it as a public health thing. It will end for sure when we get the rate of infection very low.”
Jordan said America’s freedoms have been limited during the COVID-19 pandemic, including freedom of religion, freedom to assemble, and freedom of the press. He also criticized the government for facilitating censorship of any medical viewpoints that contradict those offered by Fauci.
“We’re not talking about liberties,” Fauci replied.
Jordan kept pressing Fauci to commit to a definitive baseline to be used for reopening the country,” Jordan said. “What is the number?”
Democrats interrupted and said when 90% of congress is vaccinated, then America will get their freedoms back.
