NEW CASTLE, DE – Wednesday night, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of McCoy Road and Nattul Drive for the report of a single-vehicle crash where the vehicle struck a tree.
When the officers arrived at the scene the driver, 19-year-old Jherami Brown had been transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The New Castle County Division of Police Traffic Services Unit arrived at the scene and assumed the investigation. The investigators learned that the 2008 Ford Focus that was driven by Jherami was traveling southbound on McCoy Road. The vehicle left the edge of the roadway in the area of Nattul Drive and struck a tree.
The investigation also revealed that while alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be the cause of the crash, speed definitely was a factor.
