Man arrested near U.S.-Mexico border wanted for 2010 Ocean City murder

OCEAN CITY, MD – On March 22, 2021, Manuel Armando Escalante Jr, 47, of Federalsburg, MD was arrested in Laredo, Texas for an arrest warrant issued more than a decade ago for a stabbing that occurred in Ocean City, MD. 

This arrest stems from an incident that occurred at a midtown restaurant on July 24th, 2010.  Escalante is suspected of stabbing the victim multiple times after an altercation in the restaurant’s parking lot.  The victim was taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional (formally known as Peninsula Regional Medical Center) where he was treated for his injuries. Investigators have been attempting to locate Escalante since the stabbing occurred.    

Escalante has been charged by the Ocean City Police with Attempted 1st Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Dangerous Weapon-Intent to Injure.  Escalante has been extradited to the Worcester County Jail where he is being held while awaiting trial on no bond.
