Man charged for sexual assault in Germantown

GERMANTOWN, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) have arrested and charged Brian Valle, age 18, of the 19900 block of Apple Ridge Place in Montgomery Village, with the attempted first-degree rape and the assault of an adult female that occurred on April 4 in Germantown.

On Sunday, April 4, at approximately 7:04 p.m., 5th District officers responded to Briarcliff Terrace for the report of an attempted sexual assault that had just occurred. Detectives determined that the victim had entered the front of her apartment building when the suspect approached her. The suspect assaulted the victim and attempted to sexually assault her. A neighbor, who heard the victim screaming, came to her aid. The suspect fled the area on foot. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, detectives identified Valle as a suspect. On April 21, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Valle charging him with one count of attempt first-degree rape, assault-related charges, and one count of indecent exposure. The suspect was arrested on the strength of the warrant and transported to the Central Processing Unit. He is being held without bond.
