An unarmed black man was shot and killed in D.C. now police searching for his killer

WASHINGTON, DC – Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are seeking the public’s assistance in locating and identifying a suspect in reference to a homicide that occurred on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, in the 4600 Block of South Capitol Street, Southwest.

At approximately 6:40 pm, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location to investigate sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 24 year-old Andre Butler, of Oxon Hill, MD.
