Columbus police searching for shooting suspect

COLUMBUS, OH – On April 29, 2021, at 2:07pm, Columbus Police Patrol officers were dispatched to Columbus Fire Station #20 on a report of a shooting. Upon the officers arrival, they spoke to the victims, 38-year-old Kayle Thomas and 38-year-old Carmichael Coats.

The victims stated they were in a vehicle traveling west on E. 11th Avenue when the suspect, 25-year-old Aries Cotner, fired multiple gun shots at them. Thomas’ left knee was grazed by a bullet. Coats was not injured. Thomas and Coats continued to Columbus Fire Station #20 for treatment. Thomas was treated at scene by Columbus Fire Medics.

A warrant was filed for the arrest of Aries Cotner.
