DNA ties Nevada man to 1983 cold case in Florida

SHALIMAR, FL – A Nevada man accused in a 1983 sexual battery in west Okaloosa County is now in the Okaloosa County Jail.59-year old Richard Lane was extradited to Florida to face charges of sexual battery with a weapon and burglary with assault or battery in connection with an attack that took place on June 8th of 1983 at apartments off Highway 98.

DNA from the crime scene and persistent efforts by law enforcement helped lead to Lane’s arrest nearly 38 years after the sexual battery was reported. Last month, prior to Lane’s extradition, Investigator Kelly Henderson talked about the cold case arrest.
