Baby shot dead as police opened fire on double-murderer dad’s car

A police pursuit that began in East Baton Rouge ended in Mississippi as police chased fugitive murderer Eric Derrel Smith ended in tragedy after Smith’s child was shot and killed during a shoot out.

Smith was wanted for a double murder in Baton Rouge. According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Smith entered his ex-girlfriend’s residence at 2244 Richmond Street this morning and shot and killed 32-year-old Christin Parker and her 26-year-old nephew, Brandon Parker.

Smith then fled in a blue Nissan Altima with dark tinted windows. Smith reportedly had a 4-month-old child with him in the vehicle.

A shootout between Smith and police took place and in the hail of gunfire, the 4-month-old child was also killed.
