Atlantic City mom punched, poured liquid spice on 6-year-old girl’s genitals

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – On February 20, 2020, Detective John Sharkey of the Criminal Investigations Section received a referral from the Division of Child Protection & Permanency (DCP&P) in reference to a 6-year old female reporting to her teacher that she had been assaulted by her mother, Aminata Toure.

The allegations included that the child had been physically assaulted which included being punched and having a liquid spice that is used in cooking poured on her genitals. The DCP&P caseworker transported the child to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment.

An investigation was initiated with assistance from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.


In March of 2021, criminal charges were approved and filed against Toure for assaulting her daughter.

On April 21, Toure was located and arrested by Egg Harbor Township police officer William Burns.ARRESTED: Aminata Toure, 41, of Atlantic City.

She was charged with Sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child (two counts) and simple assault. Toure was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. Charges are mere accusations, and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
