Sheriff Ken Mascara announced that deputies and detectives are investigating a shooting homicide that took place early Monday morning and left 24-year-old Gentrus Thomas dead.

According to the Sheriff, at approximately 12:54 a.m., deputies were called to The G Spot 2 night club, also known as The Mix Sports Bar in the 2200 block of North 25th Street because of a rowdy crowd in the parking lot.

“Once on scene, deputies overheard several gunshots in the parking lot,” said Sheriff Ken J. Mascara. “Once the parking lot had been cleared, our deputies found Gentrus Thomas injured from a gunshot wound. Deputies rendered medical aid immediately, but unfortunately, Thomas was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.” According to Sheriff Mascara.
